What Is Baptism?
Baptism is an outward declaration of an inward decision. When a person is baptized in water, they are publicly identifying with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Going down into the water represents the old life being buried with Christ. Coming up from the water represents being raised to walk in newness of life. Baptism does not save us by itself. Jesus saves. We are saved by grace through faith in Him. But baptism is one of the first biblical steps of obedience for a believer who has repented, believed the gospel, and chosen to follow Jesus.
Key Scriptures: Matthew 28:19–20, Romans 6:3–4, Acts 2:38–41
Why Should I Get Baptized?
Baptism is a public way to declare:
-
I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
-
I believe He died for my sins and rose again.
-
I have repented of my old life.
-
I am choosing to follow Jesus as Lord.
-
My past does not define me anymore.
-
I belong to Jesus.
Baptism is not just a religious tradition. It is a biblical act of faith, obedience, surrender, and identification with Christ. Jesus commanded His disciples to baptize those who follow Him, and throughout the New Testament, people who believed the gospel were baptized.
Who Should Be Baptized?
Baptism is for those who have personally placed their faith in Jesus Christ.
You should consider being baptized if:
-
You have given your life to Jesus and want to publicly declare your faith. You have repented of sin and want to follow Jesus as Lord.
-
You were baptized before you truly understood the gospel and now want to make a personal, faith-filled declaration.
-
You are returning to the Lord and want to publicly mark a fresh surrender to Jesus.
-
You have never been baptized after personally choosing to follow Christ.
-
Baptism is not about being perfect. It is about surrendering to Jesus and choosing to follow Him.
What Happens When I Get Baptized?
Before baptism, we will briefly talk with you about your faith in Jesus and make sure you understand what baptism means. During baptism, you will have the opportunity to publicly confess your faith in Jesus Christ. Then you will be baptized in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is a holy moment of obedience, faith, and public declaration.
A simple baptism declaration may sound like: “I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He died for my sins and rose again. I have repented of my sin, and I choose to follow Jesus as my Lord and Savior.”
Baptism Is a Beginning
Baptism is not the finish line. It is a beginning marker in your walk with Jesus. After baptism, the goal is to continue growing as a disciple of Jesus through prayer, the Word of God, community, worship, obedience, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Baptism declares new life. Discipleship teaches us how to walk in it.

Baptism FAQ
Do I have to be baptized to be saved?
We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by religious works. Baptism does not replace faith in Jesus. However, baptism is a biblical step of obedience for those who have believed the gospel and chosen to follow Christ.
What if I was baptized as a baby?
Many people were baptized or dedicated as children before they personally understood the gospel. If you have now personally placed your faith in Jesus and want to make your own public declaration, we would be honored to baptize you.
Can I get baptized if I have walked away from God and recently came back?
Yes. If you have returned to Jesus and want to publicly declare fresh surrender to Him, baptism can be a powerful step of obedience and rededication.
What should I bring?
Bring clothes you can get wet in, a towel, and a change of clothes. We also encourage you to invite friends and family to celebrate with you.
Can I bring a guest to watch my baptism?
Yes. Baptism is a public declaration, and we encourage family, friends, and church community to come celebrate what Jesus has done in your life.

No. Deliverance is not a requirement for baptism. Baptism is for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, repented of sin, and desire to publicly declare that they belong to Him. Baptism is about identifying with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and taking a biblical step of obedience in your walk with Him.

Yes. Baptism is not for perfect people. It is for surrendered people. Baptism does not mean you have everything figured out. Can children be baptized?
Yes, children can be baptized if they are old enough to personally understand the gospel, place their faith in Jesus, and clearly express their desire to follow Him. We want baptism to be a personal decision of faith, not something done only because a parent, family member, or friend wants it to happen. If your child wants to be baptized, our team will help talk through that decision with care.
What if I was baptized before, but I did not really understand what I was doing?
If you were baptized before truly understanding the gospel or before personally choosing to follow Jesus, you may choose to be baptized now as a sincere public declaration of your faith. Baptism should be connected to personal faith, repentance, and surrender to Jesus.
What if I was baptized as a baby?
Many people were baptized or dedicated as infants before they could personally understand or respond to the gospel. Do I need to take a class before being baptized?
We do not want baptism to feel complicated or overly religious, but we do want every person being baptized to understand what they are doing. Before baptism, we may provide a short explanation, conversation, or baptism handout so you understand the biblical meaning of baptism and can make this decision with faith and clarity.
